What is workers' compensation insurance?
In almost all U.S. states, workers' compensation policies are required by law to protect employees and cover their wages and medical care in the event of a workplace-related injury.
Employee Liability
Workers' compensation insurance can cover legal expenses associated with a lawsuit filed by an employee after suffering a workplace injury or illness, regardless of whether the claim is valid.
Medical Expenses
In the event that a worker is injured or becomes ill on the job, a worker's compensation policy may provide coverage for medical expenses and lost wages.
Survivor Benefits
A workers' compensation policy would generally cover the beneficiaries entitled to cash benefits in the event of a fatality among an employee's co-workers.
